Facilitated Dialogue

Facilitated Dialogue

When facilitating a dialogue about climate change with a group of individuals, it’s most helpful for the interpreter to guide the discussion, and not lead. This allows individuals at different levels of understanding about climate change to discuss their own personal thoughts and share actions they’re taking to make a difference.

In the video, note how the interpreter guides a discussion with a group of individuals who all acknowledge the climate is changing. (The topic was introduced offline, before filming started.)

Lesson Take Away:

When facilitating a discussion with a group, give everyone an opportunity to share their point of view and actions they might take to help solve climate change or reduce their energy use.
