About This Event
Alpena High School's Science in the Sanctuary Project-Based Learning (PBL) Class. A NNOCCI Beginner-level workshop provided over the course of a week as part of the daily class content (two morning sections of the class). Teacher professional development learning along-side students. Student cohort is made up of two teachers and 100 9th-grade students. Class fulfills Michigan high school earth-science and english credits. In this PBL class students gather information on a variety of topics and develop plans for community-level solutions, including preparing a variety of media outreach materials for their community (ex. video psa's, podcasts, and in-person presentations). The workshop on climate change communication will be co-facilitated by NNOCCI study circle alumni Stephanie Gandulla and Sarah Waters.
