Why we are involved:

NOAA's Thunder Bay National Marine sanctuary protects the Great Lakes and their rich maritime history through research, education, and community involvement.  The sanctuary works to ensure that future generations can enjoy these underwater treasures.  The sanctuary's visitor center is located in Alpena, Michigan and includes a NOAA Science on a Sphere theater to provide visitors with information about our blue planet.

Pledges:

One of the ways the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries supports NNOCCI is by supporting training staff across the sanctuary sites in NNOCCI's framing techniques in climate change communication.  Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary visitor center is a location for climate change programming and a LEED Gold facility.
