Why we are involved:

The Alaska SeaLife Center created a pledge during the summit in December 2008 to better address climate change in our internal and external communications. Currently, we are participating in the National Network on Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI) study circle with the New England Aquarium, we are designing an interactive exhibit piece for our exit, and we have trained all of our staff on current climate change science. We are also a partner agency with COSEE-AK. One of our COSEE’s missions is to communicate about climate change in Alaska. It is difficult to live in Alaska and care about Alaska’s ecosystems without being deeply involved in the climate change conversation. Informing management decisions and increasing public knowledge isn’t always an easy task, but it is one we’re committed to.
