The Marine Discovery Center is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Florida coastanl and Indian River Lagoon ecosystems through education, research and community stewardship. We strive to provide quality "hands-on, feet-wet" programs that foster a connection between people and nature.

With most of its population living near the low-lying coast, Florida must actively prepare for the impacts of climate change. Our fragile coastal habitats are especially vulnerable to increased storm activity, sea level rise, degradation of habitat, ocean acidification, and more. We must learn to have constructive conversations about climate change in order to identify and implement solutions that protect our coastlines, as well as the many species that utilize it.
