Earth: The Operator's Manual

"EARTH: The Operators' Manual" is a PBS program that first aired on April 10, 2011, and features noted climate scientist and ace communicator, Richard Alley. The program is streaming online, and classroom and informal science educators can register and then download high resolution video clips to use in education and outreach. The website also links to several teacher-tested hands-on activities, and includes resources such as a fully annotated script, 10 FAQs on climate change (the problem) and renewable energy (the solution), and much more.

Richard Alley was the first recipient of the Stephen Schneider award for climate communication, and won the 2011 Heinz Family Foundation award for Environment. "EARTH: The Operators' Manual" is made possible by NSF, and was written, produced and directed by Geoff Haines-Stiles, senior producer on Carl Sagan's classic COSMOS series, and many other science specials.
